WHAT is SwimAmerica? SwimAmerica is a program of swim instruction for people of any age. At its core is a station methodology of teaching and learning – a series of specific skills goals that individuals need to master one after the other – to achieve swim competency and ensure safety in and around the water. The program is designed so that learners can move forward at their own pace.

Station 5 – Freestyle 

Skills to be Learned 

1. Crawl stroke with breathing 

2. Breaststroke 

3. Double somersaults 

4. Front float sculling 

WATER SAFETY “If you see something, shout something!” 

1. Jump in and get back to the wall without goggles 

2. Through a kickboard or noodle to the instructor who is acting like a distressed swimmer.
