The museum has become one of Michigan’s most popular destinations where guests learn about the perils of maritime transport on the Great Lakes like the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. See the Historic Whitefish Point Light Station and take a stroll on Lake Superior’s shore and beautiful rocky beach. Following our visit, we will have an included dinner at the beautiful Timber Charlie’s, a local delight. After an incredible meal, we check into our hotel in Newberry, MI. Day 2 Breakfast is included this morning before departing for Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Upon arrival, we will meet our guide who will take us on a 45 minute tour to the Upper Falls. The Upper Falls are the largest waterfall east of the Mississippi with a drop of nearly 50 feet and 200 feet across. After that we will have time to hit the gift shop and lunch on our own before departing for Munising. This afternoon, we board a 2-1/2 hour cruise of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The lakeshore offers towering multicolored sandstone cliffs, mile-long sparkling beach strands, dashing water falls, a huge area of sand dunes and more. See such highlights as Miner’s Castle, Colored Caves, Indian Head and Chapel Rock. Following our cruise, we have an included dinner at a local restaurant before checking into our hotel for the evening. Day 3 Another included breakfast greets us this morning before departing for the Keweenaw Peninsula and Copper Country. We will pick up our step-on-guide and embark on a full day tour of the area including the Mineral Museum and Jampot. We will travel through Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, Eagle River, Copper Harbor and Brockway Mountain Drive. The Keweenaw Peninsula is the northernmost part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It projects into Lake Superior and was the site of the first copper boom in the United States. Brockway Mountain Drive runs along the ridge of Brockway Mountain on the Keweenaw Fault. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, we are greeted by a full panoramic view of the surrounding area including Lake Superior, Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor and the surrounding lakes and forests. Lunch is on our own at a local restaurant. This evening we check into our hotel in Houghton, home for the next night. Dinner is included this evening at a charming restaurant. Day 4 Following our included breakfast this morning, we depart for Lake of the Clouds. Surrounded by the silhouettes of the ancient Porcupine Mountains, the Lake of the Clouds is a blue gem amid the thick forests and one of the most photographed features in the area. We will stop at Bond Falls, a beautiful water fall located along the Ontonagon River. Our next stop is the beautiful Pine Mountain Ski & Golf Resort, where we will enjoy an included lunch and visit the UP Sports Hall of fame! After lunch we will stop for a photo opportunity before departing for the Iron Mountain Iron Mine. We will travel 2,600 feet through drifts and tunnels to 400 feet below the earth’s surface where we see amazing rock formations and large underground lighted caverns. The mine operated for 68 years and produced tons of iron ore for the great steel mills of the Midwest. This afternoon, we check into Island Resort & Casino where we will spend the remainder of our evening. We’ll see this amazing attraction up close aboard an observation raft offering excellent views of the crystal clear waters and fascinating underwater features and mysteries lurking within. We will make ample rest stops to stretch our legs and get some lunch on our own on our way to Berea, KY, where we will spend our first night. Tonight we will take a ride on the Old Kentucky Dinner Train. Throughout the 2.5 hour journey, the train travels through the breathtaking Kentucky countryside, traveling by sites such as Jim Beam distillery, Jesse James’ safe house, and the Jackson Hollow Trestle in the Bernheim Forest. During our ride we will be served refreshments a gourmet 3-course dinner. We will spend tonight in Berea. Day 2 An included breakfast awaits us this morning before heading to Kentucky Horse Park. At the facility we will have time to visit the International Museum of the the Horse, the American Saddlebread Museum and visit their 4 barns where we can see some horses in their stables and have a chat with their caretakers. We will also enjoy an included lunch at their Iron Works Café. Our next stop is at the Kentucky Artisan Center, a 25,000 square foot arts center where we can shop for Kentucky crafts and fine art, explore special exhibits, experience Kentucky hospitality and learn about Kentucky art and artists. From there we will make a stop for dinner on our own while on our way to Chattanooga, TN where we will spend the night. Day 3 After another included breakfast, we continue South today through Georgia and into Alabama. After a quick photo stop to look out over the beautiful Tennessee Valley we will arrive at Stone Mountain in Georgia. Our tickets include access the following attractions: Summit Skyride-high speed swiss cable car, which takes guests 825 feet to the top of the mountain; Scenic Railroad – 1940 full sized locomotive does a 5 mile excursion around the mountain with open air cars; Dino Fest – high flying dinosaurs & dinosaurs in 4-D; Historic Square – A Collection of Georgia Homes & Antiques built between 1793-1875; and Adventure Golf. Alsosee the Civil War generals carved into the face of the mountain. From there we will stop for an included dinner on our way to Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, AL, where we will spend our evening and overnight. Day 4 This morning begins with drive to the Mississippi coast where we will depart on The Biloxi Shrimping Trip where we will experience the spectacular world of sea life caught on a real shrimping expedition. Upon leaving the harbor, the shrimping net is set out with full details on what makes the net spread and operate correctly. The net will catch any & all sea creatures in its path, along with shrimp. The entire catch is identified and presented for your inspection by the Captain! Upon our return to the harbor we will enjoy an included lunch at Mary Mahoney’s Old French House before taking a tour of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum. Experience an array of exhibits on shrimping, oystering, marine blacksmithing, wooden boat building, net making and more. Next we will welcome a step on guide who will give us a narrated city tour of Biloxi. After that it’s on to the Drury Plaza Hotel in New Orleans, LA our home for the next 3 nights. We are just steps from the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Canal Street and the Riverwalk. After dinner at the evening kickback, you can enjoy your first night in the Big Easy. Day 5 Happy St. Patrick’s day! After our included breakfast we will depart on a city tour with a local guide. Enjoy the highlights so you know how you want to spend your free time in the city. Highlights include: Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral; Faubourg Marigny; Congo Square; Tremé; Basin Street Station; St. Charles Avenue; a Walking tour of the famous above ground cemetary; 9th Ward as it is today after Hurricane Katrina; City Park and the Sculpture Garden; and Café du Monde. Our tour will conclude in the French Market where we will have time for shopping and lunch on our own. After that we will visit Mardi Gras World Tour, where you can see the process of creating Mardi Gras floats. This is the closest you’ll ever get to the floats as you get to explore how these amazing pieces come to life each year. This evening we will enjoy some New Orleans music on our Jazz Dinner Cruise. We’ll dine on a buffet-style dinner while enjoying detailed narration of rich history of New Orleans and live New Orleans swing style music. Day 6 This morning we will start our day with the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour. We’ll journey by boat, Cajun-style, for a tour through the heart of Southern Louisiana's swamplands. We’ll see moss-draped cypress trees, fascinating plant life and the creatures who make their homes here. The rest of the dayis ours to experience New Orleans however we like, but make sure to enjoy the included drinks & dinner at the hotel’s evening kickback. Day 7 Today we begin with a drive to Natchez, MS where we will tour the opulent, Greek Revival style mansion, Stanton Hall. The home stands 5 stories tall, occupies an entire city block and was built in 1857 by Dr. Frederick Stanton for a mere $83,000. Lunch is included here this afternoon at the Carriage House. After lunch we will tour Longwood, an architectural gem, and the largest octagonal house in the U.S. A National Historic Landmark, construction began in 1860, but was interrupted by the onset of the Civil War. This evening we will travel to the Waterview Casino & Hotel in Vicksburg, MS where we will spend our evening and overnight. *Everyone will receive $20 free play and a $20 dinner voucher. Day 8 After breakfast this morning we will have a guided tour of Vicksburg National Military Park. The park preserves the site of the American Civil War Battle of Vicksburg. To Confederate President Jefferson Davis, Vicksburg was the "nailhead that holds the South's two halves together." President Abraham Lincoln remarked "Vicksburg is the key" to victory, and could be the north's lifeline into the south. After that we will enjoy some free time in downtown Vicksburg where we can explore and get lunch on our own. Next we will travel to Memphis where we will enjoy an included buffet dinner at the hotel and a free evening. Day 9 Another included breakfast awaits at the hotel before departing for a tour of Graceland. Our tour includes Graceland Mansion Audio-Guided Tour with New Orientation Film and self-guided tours of Elvis' Custom Jets, Presley Motors Automobile Museum, The Entertainer Career Museum, and Elvis Discovery Exhibit. Lunch is included at Vernon’s Steakhouse, located on-site. From there we will tour Sun Studio, known worldwide as “The Birthplace of Rock’n’roll”. It is the discovery location of musical legends and genres of the 50’s from B.B. King and Elvis Presley to Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Michigan Central Station (90 minute guided tour)- Also known as Michigan Central Depot, it is the historic former main intercity passenger rail station in Detroit. Formally dedicated on January 4, 1914, the station remained open for business until January 6, 1988, when Amtrak service was relocated. The station building consisted of a train depot and a 230-foot office tower with thirteen stories above two mezzanine levels. The tallest rail station in the world at the time of its construction, the Beaux-Arts style architecture was designed by architects who had previously worked on Grand Central Terminal in New York City. In December 2018 Ford began restoration work consisting of drying out the building and reinforcing structural columns and archways, masonry restoration of the tower and concourse, retiling of the ceiling of the waiting room, and repair of the structural steel. 3-D scanning technology was used to recreate architectural details lost to exposure and vandalism. Day 1 After boarding our Bianco tour bus our day begins with a visit to the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary. Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary is a place for all reptiles and amphibians to find a safe haven and proper care needed to live out their lives safely and securely. You will have the opportunity to tour the sanctuary, feed the gators and get pictures with them and a giant African tortoise. After lunch on our own we will head to the beautiful Oakwood Resort, where we will spend the night. Located on the edge of Lake Wawasee, Indiana’s largest natural lake, Oakwood Resort is where great moments are made! Engage in some lawn games on the expansive property or explore the scenic trails. This afternoon we will take a boat tour of Lake Wawasee departing from the on-site dock before enjoying an included dinner at the resort. Day 2 This morning you can redeem your breakfast voucher at the hotel coffee shop before we travel to the University of Notre Dame. We will tour the stadium of the Fighting Irish including the locker room and tunnel. After lunch on our own in downtown South Bend, we will take a guided tour of the Basicillica of Sacred Heart – the campus church of Notre Dame and an icon in the community. Neogothic in style the Basilica is home to the largest collection of 19th century French stained glass in the world as well as the oldest carillon in North America. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Our day ends with a favorite family owned Italian restaurant – Caruso’s. Dan & Lisa are the second generation creating amazing Italian cuisine with hand crafted sauces and recipes handed down from Dan’s grandmother. Dan, who is a Master Wine Sommelier, will offer wine pairing suggestions for each included entrée his family has prepared. Included lunch at White Horse Inn (Metamora) - This local landmark dates back to the 1850s. Until recently, it was the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Michigan. Throughout its long history, the White Horse Inn served as a stagecoach stop, hotel, inn, brothel, and restaurant. Some even claim it was a safe house on the Underground Railroad. The inn closed briefly a few years when the previous owners couldn’t afford the extensive repairs. New owners Linda Egeland and Victor Dzenowagis breathed new life into this Metamora institution with a three million dollar renovation. The husband and wife team enlisted the skills of local and international artists and craftspeople to bring this legendary beauty back to life. Perfect for aspiring stars, this program sharpens passing, shooting, and dribbling skills, emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. Participants develop defensive and rebounding abilities in a dynamic setting that promotes personal and athletic growth. Join us and become an MVP on and off the court!
